According to the current CD Projekt Red, the next part of The Witcher, which is currently known as "Polaris", will begin full -fledged production in 2024 with the expansion of the developer team.
In an interview with Parkiet Polish publication, Adam Kichinsky, who has been transferred to another position in the company from January 1, talked about what the studio is currently working on, starting with the next part of the series based on the works of Andgea Sapkovsky.
At the moment, more than 330 people work on Polaris, and in the middle of 2024 the team will be expanded to 400 people. Next year, CD Projekt Red will also begin work on Orion, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, the conceptual stage of which ended some time ago. At the moment, the formation of a team of developers is ongoing, the core of which will be a new studio in Boston. The work on Sirius also continues in cooperation with The Molasses Flood and the remake of the first part of The Witcher series.
Speaking about The Witcher "Polaris", Adam Kichinsky emphasized that the rumors that the work is at an advanced stage and that the release date will be declared in the near future do not correspond to reality. After the numerous delays in Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish studio will begin to announce the release dates later, but it will still talk about future games early to provide a proper marketing campaign.
In addition to talking about The Witcher "Polaris", Adam Kichinsky also commented on the possible absorptions of the studio, saying that they are not interested in buying other companies only to consolidate their financial results. At the same time, CD Projekt Red is not interested in acquiring it by any major company, since they have worked all their lives to reach the position in which they are now, and this position only improves for several years.
